Set in Montana’s luscious Glacier National Park during the early 1900s, Sam Rozengren, a Swiss American, lives near the historical Many Glacier Hotel amid the transcontinental railroad boom. When an experienced hiker goes missing on the Highline Trail, rangers call on Sam, whose unorthodox methods usually can solve any case. However, little does Sam know the magnitude of this particular missing hiker or the courage he would need to solve this case. Sam’s closest team includes his malamute dog whose military training during World War I has left him with PTSD. Through serendipity, Sam meets Emma and Elias Svensson, who are visiting Glacier National Park. They too are searching for their father whom they have not seen in years. Together, this unlikely team investigates the rangers’ case, facing danger, death, and love, demonstrating the continued vital importance of resilience and American grit.
