The solar eclipse was breathtaking and inspiring. The sun's corona, which I had never seen before in person, suddenly became visible when the sun turned black as night. When the sun returned, I saw the same sun but now in a new light, a new understanding gained through experience. I began to see the entire cosmos in a new light, which added depth to Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."
I had dedicated my life to investigating the complexities of the world around me and seeing God's fingerprint on His creation. However, I eventually realized that in my research more questions were arising than I could answer. Throughout my childhood, my church and Christian school had taught me that Scripture was authoritative over the general revelation of God's creation, but this perspective was being challenged by what I was seeing in nature. After extensive explorations, I discovered that the relationship between the Bible and creation was not as simple as I had thought. Is there a different paradigm that brings together God's revelation in His Word and the world?
