From the Heart: A Collection of Inspirational and Love Poems by a Retired Military Veteran came into existence, stemming from lifetime experiences, over a period of fifty-plus years. Throughout my life, I have worked many jobs: in a shoe factory as a site supervisor and recreational supervisor, working with children over the summer in a community activity program. I had worked as a food storeroom aide when I was in college and at a bank working as a proof operator. Most of my life in the military, I had always had a second job—working in a pizza establishment, a karaoke host, cleaning tables and restocking beverages in a military club, housekeeping in military lodging, and bagging groceries in the commissary. After retirement, I worked as a teacher’s assistant and food service worker.
Of all my jobs, there was no job more humbling, more structured, and offering a sense of humility than working on a farm or in the tobacco fields. I am sure there are many readers or country folks who could relate. Throughout my life, and working all these jobs, I encountered all races and ethnicity of people. I thank God for my talent and ability to write from experiences that I have encountered throughout my life, along with a foundation rooted in the Bible and church. For those of my readers who may have somehow lost your way, including me, I am hoping that this book would possibly inspire you, or possibly help to strengthen your relationship with your family, friends, spouses, or love interests. If nothing else, my desire is that this book would leave you with a feeling of warmth and contentment and an everlasting experience that you would want to share with others.
