I'm tired of seeing dead kids on the news!I am a former SWAT team member and school resource officer who has responded to a mass shooting incident by a disgruntled worker at a factory. I remember well seeing the dead bodies on the floor, the chaos and destruction caused by one man's anger. I remember the fear I felt knowing that he was armed and waiting for us, and the terror and relief on the faces of the workers as they emerged from their hiding places one by one.No school should have something like this occur on its campus! Unfortunately, though, it's happening, and the odds are that it will happen again somewhere.
The information contained in this book is available from numerous sources. I cannot take credit for its development or message. All I have done is attempt to explain it at a level that a young child can understand-an attempt to explain the sights and sounds of an assailant as he enters and makes his way through a school and what they will hear and see from those who respond to rescue them!
An online search gives credit to Greg Crane for developing a multi-option response for active shooter incidents in the year 2000. The Federal Bureau of Investigation also developed a protocol for active shooter response and has shared that information with other law enforcement agencies.No child should have to experience this! Your child should never have to experience this! But what if they do? What if it happens at their school?
