Me and the Mirror: A Daughter's Journey is a compelling story I crafted about Bay's life and how she navigated in society without the influence of her biological father. In this book, I alluded to the emotional scarring that I endured due to the absence of my dad's love and the fact that I only met him once in my lifetime. Dad's absence never derailed me from obtaining significant goals I set for myself, but it dawned on me later in life that his absence was directly linked to my emotional pattern when it came to sustaining a healthy male–female partnership. The book covers how I gleaned, at an early age, from my grandmother the tools to become self–sufficient. In this book, I also share with you the power of love from my caregivers, which helped shape my humanitarianism and provided me with a solid moral compass. You see, during my era, African American families understood the importance of close–knit family network and extended family living.
With that being said, Between Me and the Mirror: A Daughter's Journey is a compelling story of how a little girl named Bay from Mississippi, overcame many personal obstacles and is now living her best life and golden years as a government retiree and a self–taught artist. The "epiphany" of my storyline is how I used determination and self–worth as a flashlight during my life journey.
