Does it seem odd to you that God provided the book of Revelation to reveal Jesus Christ to us but then cloaked it in such mystery that most Christians are intimidated to even read it? There are four basic interpretive views of Revelation as well as three traditional views of the millennium, leaving no consensus among Bible scholars as to which ones are correct. The matter gets more complex when one begins to prove Old Testament prophecy fulfillment within Revelation. Did God intend us to need a seminary degree to understand Revelation? The complexity surrounding Revelation leaves the typical layperson intimidated, afraid of trying to understand the book that features the completion of God’s redemptive plan.What if there was a study on Revelation that didn’t require you to know Old Testament prophecy, that wasn’t based on a particular interpretive view, and presented the millennium in terms you can understand as a time you can look forward to? Unlike most commentaries which focus on relating the visions in Revelation to Old Testament prophecy fulfillment, this book focuses on relating Revelation to the teachings of Paul, John the Apostle, and Timothy who were all prominent church leaders in Asia Minor where the seven churches who originally received Revelation were located. Many of the questions asked in this study connect Revelation back to New Testament passages written by or to these strong Christian men.
Revelation: The Elephant in Our Midst, A Layperson Study Guide is written for either personal or small-group Bible study. It is not written to argue for or against the various interpretations of Revelation; rather, it presents a reasonable and cohesive interpretation intended to bring meaning and relevance to this book of the Bible that intimidates most laypeople such that they avoid reading it.
