Human nature has a tendency to create rules, expectations, and rituals with regard to religion. Christianity is the one and only faith that offers redemption without adherence to a set of rules. For two thousand years, it has transcended nationalities, languages, and cultures. It has waned throughout the ages when it has required adherence to extraneous rules or rituals. It has thrived in eras of its return to the central message: By grace are we saved through faith alone.
Church attendance is in decline in the United States and Europe in all denominations. A majority of Evangelicals are affiliating with extreme-right culture, which has sparked some concern about the nature of what it means to be a follower of Christ.
